Cutting it off?
Send it on.

If you are taking real length off, your ponytail can be measured, tied and sent away to be made into a wig. It costs you nothing, it adds almost no time, and the only thing we need is for you to tell us before we start cutting.

Four steps, one appointment

How a donation cut works

There is one thing that has to happen in the right order, and it is the first one. A ponytail has to be tied before it is cut, so a big change you decide on halfway through the appointment cannot be donated.

  1. 01

    Say so when you book

Tell reception on the phone, or write it in the enquiry form. It does not change the length of the appointment or the price. It changes how we cut.

  2. 02

We measure and tie before anything is cut

The length is measured dry, sectioned and bound at the top. A donated ponytail has to be tied before the scissors go near it, which is why it cannot be done after the fact.

  3. 03

You still get the cut you came in for

The donation is the first few minutes of a normal appointment. The bob, the crop or the lob is cut, styled and finished exactly the way it would have been anyway.

  4. 04

We pack it and send it on

It leaves the salon to be made into a wig. There is no charge for any part of this and no paperwork for you.

Straight answers

What people ask at the basin

How long does it have to be?

Long enough to tie and still leave you with the cut you want. We measure it dry, on the day, before anything happens — and if it is not there yet we will tell you straight rather than cut it and waste it. If you are growing it out for this, ring the salon and ask before you book.

Where does it actually go?

It leaves the salon to be made into a wig. Ask on the day and the team will tell you exactly who it is going to at the moment — that changes over time, and we would rather tell you the current answer than print an old one here.

Does it cost me anything?

No. There is no donation fee and no surcharge on the cut. You pay for the haircut you came in for, at the same price as anyone else in that chair. A cut and style starts at $72.

Can you donate coloured hair?

Bring it in and let us look. Condition matters more than colour, and it is not a judgement call worth making over the phone. It is the same conversation as any consultation: five minutes, free, no obligation.

You are still booking a haircut

The donation is a couple of minutes at the front of a normal appointment. Book the cut you actually want — a bob, a lob, a crop — and mention the ponytail when you do.

Hair is the biggest thing a salon throws out

A ponytail is the visible end of something we do with everything that hits the floor. Clippings too short to donate are bagged and collected for oil booms and compost rather than binned. Foils leave as clean metal. Colour water is filtered before it reaches the drain.

Ring the salon closest to you and say you are thinking about donating. It changes nothing about what you pay or how long you are in the chair.
