Our journey towards sustainability began with a simple question: “What can we do differently?” The answer led us to Sustainable Salons, an incredible organisation that’s revolutionising the hairdressing industry. They’ve become our partners in crime, helping us recycle a staggering 95% of our salon waste – that’s almost everything from hair clippings to shampoo bottles!
Think about the mountains of waste generated by the average salon. Now imagine that drastically reduced. That’s the power of our partnership. We’re diverting tons of waste from landfills each year, and that feels amazing.
What happens to all that hair?
You might be wondering what happens to everything we recycle. Well, it’s truly remarkable!
- Fertiliser: Hair clippings are collected for compost, nourishing the earth, helping gardens bloom, and closing the loop on the life cycle.
- Building materials: Giving old shampoo bottles a new lease of life in the form of furniture.
- Wigs for people who need them: This is perhaps the most heartwarming part. When you take real length off, your ponytail can be tied, cut and sent on to be made into a wig. Here’s how a donation cut works.
